Take a look around the site and find out all you want to know about Cumbria and the lake district!
Cumbria’s most important towns are featured in some detail (with photos) and their pages contain links to places of interest in their area as well as a little history on each.
The Mountains Lakes And Walks section describes some of the truly magnificent scenery in the county.
The History section lists the important events and the most interesting of the great many historical sites open to the public or to which access can be gained. As you can imagine with 5,000 years of history from Neolithic times through the Roman occupation, to the bloody Border Wars with Scotland and the English Civil War there is a huge amount to see including many castles and Stone Circles.
The photographs on these pages let you see for yourself how beautiful a place Cumbria is. Don’t worry though, the largest image is only 19K and most are 17K or less. Check out the Photos section!
